Expectations from the Managers and Coaches

We will always do our best to make each session enjoyable, structured and focused on developing your skills. Our aim is to make the game easy to grasp, even as you progress to the more complex stages of the game. We will do all we can to make every player/parent feel part of the team. We will always put more value on a good team performance that ends in defeat than a victory at any cost. We will do all we can to help you play with confidence and freedom, because without that, football is nothing. We will be inclusive of everyone within the team and group, no one will be left behind and everyone will be encouraged to take part and be part of the team. We will always lead by example when teaching the clubs ethics and behaviours. We would rather lose with pride than win with arrogance and being disrespectful to the opposition.

Expectations of the Players

Always try your best, give 100% and never give up. Always listen and pay attention to what the coaches and managers are saying. ALWAYS show respect, this is to everyone, your teammates, officials, opposition and those who have come to support the teams on match days. At the end of matches always offer handshakes. Always remember you are representing the club and your behaviour is a reflection of South Devon Youth FC. Take responsibility for your kit, water, shinpads etc – it’s not always up to your parents to do this for you. ALWAYS respect the referee’s / officials decision and NEVER question a decision. You must understand violent and foul play will NEVER be tolerated in any circumstances! Report any bullying - Bullying will not be tolerated in any way shape or form in the club, if you see it report it to your coach, manager, parent or welfare officer. It will be dealt with quickly and the person concerned will be asked to leave the club.

Expectations of the Parents

Show respect at all times and towards all decisions made by match officials, and respect other spectators, coaches and players. Be a good role model by positively supporting teams in every way possible, the club will not tolerate foul and abusive behavior from the side of the pitch. Allow the coaches and managers to do their job, if you would like to volunteer and help out there are always plenty of spaces available for extra helpers who want to get involved in an official capacity, if you do not want to become a coach then we ask politely that you let the volunteers help the players play the game. Ensure players arrive in good time for training and matches. Ensure players arrive with the correct equipment and a drink. Keep the club informed of anything that may be important or could affect the player. Ensure subscriptions are paid on time during the season and any monies owed are paid before the end of the agreed date.
